Member Use/Drop in Childcare
The Jungle Gym is a drop in/short term Child Care. It is for children who need care while their parents work out or occasionally run errands or participate in leisure and work activities. Parents must be reachable by phone if they choose to leave the facility. Parents must be able to return to the facility in 25 minutes.
Both members and non members are welcome to use the Jungle Gym. We have no age limit. All openings are first come, first serve basis. The facility may be used for up to 3 hours. If you are leaving the facility, we ask that you let the provider know ahead of time and that you leave a full diaper bag with special instructions for a longer day schedule.
Immunizations– We are not required by the state of Montana to be licensed as a drop in childcare. However, we follow the guidelines and Immunizations records are required to use the Jungle Gym.
Mon – Fri 8am to 4pm
Snacks are a great thing to have when you drop off your child at the Jungle Gym, especially if you’re gone for an extended period of time(longer than 1 hr).
Snacks can be purchased at the front desk. Snacks range from .50- $1.00 per snack. We can provide a snack unless you give us specific direction as to allergies or that they have their own or should not have one of ours. If you are not at the facility during the time of snack, we can charge the snack to your account as long permission was given to do so. Please let us know prior to your departure if you brought a snack, or if you’d like us to provide one. Snacks consist of graham crackers, gold fish; cheese its, Ritz, cheerios, fruit snacks and sometimes vanilla wafers, zbars, applesauce… REMEMBER if your child is not allowed to have a snack we ask that you bring that to the attention of the staff when you check them in. Also if your child has any food allergies please let staff know.
Behavior/Discipline: Care givers need to set limits so that your child and other children can learn respect for things and people in their environment while at the Jungle Gym. Giving children choices and redirection are tools most often used… Children that are disrespectful and are repeatedly disruptive will have a call out to parents. If the behavior does not improve the child will be asked to leave the facility. We reserve the right to refuse to admit repeatedly disruptive children.
Well Child Policy: For the protection of other children and our staff we rely on the thoughtfulness of each parent’s assessment of their child. Please do not ask us to care for your child if he/she is ill. Our staff reserves the right to refuse to admit any child that is ill. An ill child is defined as follows:
- FEVER -Has had or has a fever within the last 24 hours above 99
- DIARRHEA– Has diarrhea or nausea in the last 24 hours. Defined as Loose, very watery, or mucus filled stools.
- COLD -Discharge from eyes, or a profuse nasal discharge, a cough with mucus secretions.
- RASH-A contagious disease (rashes of any sorts or bacterial infections)
- Home from school–If your child is too sick for school, they’re too sick for the Jungle Gym!
Non Emergency Care. Attendants will call or page parent if child has been crying for a long period of time, seems ill, seriously misbehaves or is injured in any way. If you would prefer to change your child’s diaper while in our care please let us know and we will page you.
Emergency Medical Care
In the event that your child should need medical assistance. 911 will be called along with the parents and the Emergency Contact listed on your registration information. All pertinent information is kept on our computer and on registration card and under your membership information. Please keep this information updated.
Statistics tell us that at least 50% of all children in childcare facilities will bite or be bitten within the facility. To address the policy it is important to know that biting is normal development in children under the age of 3. This is the way they begin to register a complaint or begin to take control of their lives before they can effectively communicate with other children and adults. Over the age of 3 biting becomes more of behavioral problem that may be related to a more complicated ability in a Child’s life. The point being that each incident needs to be handled on individual basis.
A bite report will be issued to both families involved. Confidentiality will be maintained through this process as to not label a child as dangerous or anything less than another’s person’s child, as biting is a normal developmental process with infants and toddlers. The staff will record the number of bites and communicate in the report the circumstances around why the behavior occurred. At this point shadowing and discipline will be discussed with the parents of the biting child. We will work with the issue and the point at which it happens more than three times a week we may ask the child to be taken out of the facility until the situation gains control. Note-we have had no past incidents of biting of any kind here in the Jungle Gym.
We ask that you drop your child off in a clean disposable diaper. Diaper changes will be performed as needed( if you leave facility). If you would like to be paged to change your child diaper please let the attendant know ahead of time. We will also charge $2.00 for diapers if we need to provide them.
