Your First Group Class: What to Expect (and Why You’ll Be Back)
Everyone in that room was new once — here’s how to make your first class the first of many.
The hardest part of any group class is the door. Walking into a room of people who seem to know the moves, the music and each other takes real courage — so let’s take the mystery out of it.
Arrive ten minutes early and introduce yourself to the instructor. Tell them it’s your first time. They’ll help you set up your station, show you the modifications, and quietly keep an eye on you — it’s their favorite part of the job.
Every single move has an easier version, and nobody is watching you do it. Take the modification, skip the jump, grab lighter weights. Finishing your first class matters infinitely more than matching the person next to you.
By your third visit, the front row regulars will know your name, and the class you were afraid of will be the appointment you protect. That community effect is why group exercise members are among the most consistent at the club — check the live schedule and pick your first one.
