The Most Underrated Machine in the Gym? The Pool.

Zero impact, constant resistance, built-in temperature control — the heated pool might be the smartest training tool in the building.

Water is a paradox: it supports you and resists you at the same time. Submerged to the chest, your joints carry a fraction of your body weight — while every direction you move meets resistance. That combination is why pool training works for almost everyone.

For sore knees, new hips, arthritis or post-injury comebacks, the pool lets you train movement patterns and cardio hard without the pounding. Many members who can’t run on land can stride, jump and push in the water pain-free.

It’s not just rehab. Water adds resistance in every plane, so aqua classes quietly build strength, balance and work capacity — and a hard lap session will humble athletes who think swimming is easy.

Start with a water exercise class, lap swim at your own pace, or ask about swim lessons with Miss Ione — yes, adults take them too, and yes, it’s worth it. The water is heated. You have no excuse.
